Winter Clove Inn & Resort: Upstate Overnights

August 20, 2020 By wordpress

The Low-Down

The Winter Clove Inn & Resort offers family-friendly, year-round, all-inclusive accommodations in Catskills country. Family owned and operated, this is one of the oldest resorts in Upstate New York. Guests can choose one of three places to stay depending on your space and amenities preference: The Carriage Lodge, The Oaks Lodge, and The Main Inn.

What Gabby Loves About This Place

I always love a spacious, activity-filled place that caters to spending quality time with your family. Check out some of the activities they offer, here! Also, three meals a day are prepared by a chef and included in your stay! That’s a huge perk and value for people wanting to maximize their time exploring the outdoors. Speaking of the outdoors, Artist Falls is just a short walk out of your front door – a stunning waterfall complete with a covered bridge overlooking the magnificence.

Discover Your Inner Pinball Wizard At UPH

August 19, 2020 By Rachel Dunn

Want to spend some time with Elvis, Dolly Parton and Mick? Always thought you could be a pinball wizard just given the chance? Well, you’ll get your chance at Universal Preservation Hall’s “Part of The Machine: Rock & Pinball Exhibit“.The interactive exhibit is on loan from Cleveland’s Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. Rock an old-school wooden machine or test drive a spectacular, modern, high-tech model. It’s a super-fun walk through music history by way of pinball machines.

The best part is that you can PLAY the machines as much as you want during your 90-minute visit. Attempt to break the high score solo, or if you’re like my husband and me, you can go head-to-head to see who is truly a pinball wizard. Hint: It wasn’t me.

There are also artifacts from the Hall of Fame including Alice Cooper’s electric chair, a Dolly Parton concert dress and more. It’s such an immersive and fun experience that you won’t want to leave. The good news is that the tickets are just $20, which includes all the pinball you can manage in 90 minutes, so you can go back again… and again… and again. At least until September 26th, when the exhibit moves on.

Side note: If you’re concerned about safety during your visit, UPH has put your health first and created an incredibly clean and sterile environment. I felt absolutely safe the entire time I was at the venue. See details below.

The Details:

Devil’s Tombstone Campgrounds: Upstate Overnights

August 19, 2020 By wordpress

The Low-Down

This is a little different from the other brick-and-mortar places – we’re talking about good ol’ traditional camping. Devil’s Tombstone is one of the oldest campgrounds in the Catskill Forest Preserve. It’s a small campground with wooded sites, a small shallow lake – Notch’s Lake – and spots for boating, fishing, and hiking. There are 24 tent and trailer sites, two picnic areas with tables and fireplaces or charcoal grills, a playground, a volleyball net, horseshoes, and firewood for sale. Swimming, boating, and showers are available at North-South Lake Campground – 8 miles away.

What Gabby Loves About This Spot

Camping is a very affordable option and provides that rustic feel that many nature lovers crave. This campground provides hiking access to the 21-mile Devil’s Path Trail. This is a haven for serious hikers! It offers breathtaking views of the Central Catskills from the Buck Ridge Lookouts.

Gather Greene: Upstate Overnights

August 19, 2020 By wordpress

The Low-Down

Located in Coxscakie, Gather Greene has 100 acres of land where folks can celebrate, stay, or explore. Their pavilion, cabins, and grounds have views of the Catskills and Berkshires, They have 17 cabins which come with an outside deck, a king size bed, bathroom, closet with large mirror, mini fridge, and caffeine fix. 12 cabins are looking out over the ridge towards the Berkshires, and 5 cabins are nestled into the woods slightly further apart.

What Gabby Loves About This Place

One small detail that makes all the difference – the cabin bathrooms come with sumptuous handmade organic and local toiletries from 2 Note Hudson. I love the emphasis on supporting small and local! Those big windows that allow you a piece of nature while inside is a huge perk too…also great for those Instagram shots.
